ELECTRICAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Shelby County provides a certification program that administers electrical exams for applicants in the county. Through this program, we reciprocate cards from other jurisdictions that meet our requirements. Shelby County electrical certification cards are renewed on a 3-year cycle.
EXAM
DATES AND DEADLINES
The exams are given on the second Saturday of March, June, September, and December.
The deadline for registration is the first week of the month prior to
test date. Contact

HOMEOWNERS
ELECTRICIAL EXAM
Shelby County
allows an individual to install and maintain electrical systems in his home
providing such electrical work is done by himself and such home is used exclusively
by him. A score of 70% allows the applicant to
perform the electrical installation for the permit that is applied. Exams are
given Monday thru Friday 9 AM to 3:30 PM. There are no fees for the exams,
they are open book and are out of the NEC code book (provided). An exam
is available for:
