| The
Rabies Vaccination and Verification Program started in Shelby County effective
January 1, 2005. Shelby County Animal Control is not associated with
this program. However, in an effort to provide information to the
public, we are posting the following information to help with questions
associated with the program. The Rabies Vaccination and Verification
Program is administered by Rabies Control, Inc. under the direction of the
Shelby County Rabies Control Officer, Dr.Becky Senicz, and in accordance
with Alabama Code 3-7A-1. The law requires that all dogs and cats over three
(3) months of age be vaccinated against rabies annually, and the owner must
be able to provide proof of vaccination signed by a licensed veterinarian.
Dr. James N. Green with Rabies Control, Inc.will be performing all fieldwork
and verification activities. Any questions and/or comments concerning the
Rabies Vaccination and Verification Program should be directed to Dr.Senicz,
