An out-of-state license is valid for 30 days after your move into the state. For 1975 and later models, all ownership and lien documents are required. For models prior to 1975, a bill of sale is the only document required. An Alabama tag costs $24.25, plus an additional fee based on the assessed value of the auto during the previous year.

All Alabama hunters and fishermen age 16 and older must have a valid hunting and fishing license. Those who are 65 and older do not need these licenses if they have a valid Alabama driver license. (The driver license must be with them whenever they hunt or fish.) To get a license, applicants must show a current driver license or other proof of residency. Residents of Shelby County have access to a combined collection of some 200,000 resources, including books, magazines, cassettes, videos, puppets, equipment, maps, and pamphlets. Library cards, free to Shelby County residents, are honored at all of the county’s library locations; Alabaster, Calera, Chelsea, Columbiana, Harpersville, Helena, Montevallo, North Shelby, Pelham, Vincent, Westover and Wilsonville. The Harrison Regional Library, as part of the Library Network, has access to 29.2 million books in 18,168 libraries worldwide.
Shelby County has activities for its senior adults age 60 and older. Activities, programs and educational classes are presented by and for seniors. Among the offerings are quilting, bingo, picnics, shopping trips, devotionals, exercise classes and fishing excursions. Other services include home-delivered meals, legal assistance, ombudsman service, in-home companionship, postal alert, transportation service, and temporary assistance with household chores.
